Holo Graphic Laptop
I’m going to introduce a superb VAIO laptop which is absolutely sexy of all time. The model is called Sony VAIO Zoom laptop. This amazing creature has boasting holographic hi technology. The laptop is all about a thin screen. When off, the screen is completely transparent and the keyboard goes opaque. If you turn it on, the holographic festivities immediately begin. For now this product is just a concept, but who knows it may not come all at once, but it’s coming.

Premimum
oanna Stern brought you news of the ASUS Lamborghini VX5, the 16.9-inch addition to the company’s premium line (inspired by the luxury card brand, of course). In addition to good looks, this widescreen notebook packs quad-core processors, dual storage with combined capacity as large as 1TB, WiMax capability, and an ambient light sensor, which dims or brightens the display based on the surrounding light. Well, last night, Joanna and I found ourselves wandering around the quiet show floor (this was the day before the show officially opened), and found the ASUS booth delightfully empty. So, we did what any self-respecting tech journalists would do: we crammed in some guerrilla video-shooting and photo-snapping. Unfortunately, the VX5 we found wasn’t a working unit, but we were able to ogle the design up close. (Be sure to check out Joanna’s post on the Eee PC 1000HAE as well.)

ince I'm in a techie mood lately, I thought I'd post this amazing laptop:It's Datamancer's Steampunk Laptop. I gather that steampunking is taking something new and making it look Victorian. This computer is fully functional, and you can see a video of it running on the website.
Unique
It’s not every day you walk past something quite as striking as Toshiba’s new DMFC internet viewer prototypes. Sure, folks like Toshiba and Samsung have been chatting up DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) power technology for ages, but to see it live and in person — and powering a truly unique form factor — is quite a treat. Word is these things can last for a week of typical use on one methanol refill, and are running regular old Windows XP. Unfortunately, there’s no word on what processing and storage is under the hood or when these will hit the market, or for how much.
Mini Lenovo
After Dell finally launched its netbook, the Mini 9, there was still one major manufacturer’s netbook that some people were waiting to get their hands on: the one promised from Lenovo.
Well, the wait is over, as it’s finally made its appearance in the form of the IdeaPad S10e, a well designed netbook with a decent feature set and a competitive price tag, the only downside being the battery life from the 3-cell battery.
You can tell straight away which family of notebooks it’s related to, as the squared-off design, measuring 25 x 18.3 x 2.8cm, makes it look and feel like a ThinkPad that’s been shrunk in the wash, which to many people makes it a winner from the start. But being a netbook it’s not only available in the familiar black, it comes in red and white as well.Acer Aspire
Acer Aspire One, a 249×170x29mm PC notebook in the history of Laptops. It is smaller than your average diary and is less than one kilo. You can have Aspire One with available colors to choose from, Seashell White, Sapphire Blue, Coral Pink and Golden Brown. People say that your color is your style, your style is your signature. Having an Aspire One is one fashion statement you can have!
It is said that this laptop boots in only 10 seconds, have a load of that! And a lot of feature an advanced laptop would possess.
Singulum
Nothing special about the Singulum laptop except its fashion. Decorated with wooden finish and ivory or gold keyboard, the 15″ laptop running on 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and configured with plenty of RAM at 2GB, and huge storage of 160GB Serial ATA.
Running on Windows Vista Business OS, the Singulum laptop also sports DVD burner, Fax/Modem, Gigabit Ethernet, and Intel Wi-Fi.
Gaming Laptop
tips its hat toward its new acquisition, Alienware, as it releases its XPS M1710 Gaming Laptop. Available in Formula Red or Metallic Black, it's packed with an Intel Core Duo processor, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX 512MB graphics, 4GB of RAM, SerialATA hard disk and a 17-inch 1600x1200 display.
Doesn't look too bad, either. Heck, it even has a backlit touchpad. Nice. Pricing starts at $2600, $3400 loaded.
Ultra Protable
The all-new Toshiba Satellite U205-S5034 notebook is the latest in line to the ultraportable laptops out there. It sports a 12 inch screen and is named TruBrite. It is powered by the Core 2 Duo (Meron) T5200 at 1.6Ghz speed, and this laptop gives enough processing power for common computing. It comes complete with a 1GB DDR2 Ram, 100GB 5400RPm SATA HDD, and a multi format DVD drive. But it is somewhat thicker and heavier at 1.34 inches thick and 4.1 pounds. The prices start from $1,299.00.
Voodoo Its Envy
ts the latest by Voodoo its Envy a:228 which weighs just 4 pounds including tha weight of its battery and optical drive. It comes in really kool colors like olive, red, white, pearl orange, blue, black and pink. The features of a:228 are as good as its looks, it comes with a DVD burner, an ATi RS480 High Intensity Graphics Processor, an AMD Turion 64 processor, and you can configure it with up to 2 gigs of ram, a 120 gig hard drive, and even a tv tuner. There are really very few notebooks available with such awesome features and catchy colors. So lets see if vadoo’s this formula of color + features does it for it again..

Thinest Laptop
MacBook is one of the trusted laptops on the portable computer market today and lots of people love the Mac environment even though it costs quite a bit more than other Laptops. One of the main reason’s people prefer to use MacBook with Mac OS is because there are very few virus and malwares that infect a MacOS unlike Windows systems. Apple’s most recent innovation in the laptop department is the Apple MacBook Air. The MacBook air is meant to be the thinnest laptop and Apple have done the job quite well. The design of the MacBook air itself is quite cool with lots of curves which makes it a very slick laptop.
Dell Inspron
It’s bound to appeal to some users - the larger screen inevitably resulting in a less cramped interface, but does the extra size mean you’d be better off with a regular, more powerful full-sized laptop?
Colours and contrast on the Super-TFT screen are excellent, as with the smaller Mini 9. Dell has put the extra real estate to good use, fitting a higher 1280 x 800 pixel resolution than most netbooks. With enough space for multiple windows, it offers better usability than its rivals.24kt Gold Platinum
Wow, Apple’s latest MacBook Pro in 24kt Gold, by Computer Choppers! Really Cool, it will be for $2,000 and up. Click 2 enlarge! Computer Choppers provides the sevices of custom computers case, laptops, cellphones cases… in Aluminum (polishing), Nickel, Black Nickel, Copper, Chrome, 24kt Yellow Gold, White Gold, Rose Gold, Platinum.
Now In Transparent
We are so traditional in our ways that we tend to presume the obvious materials of choice for something like our computers. Now, would you buy the theory of stretching a Bamboo fabric across the aluminum frame of the comp to protect its innards? This will not only cut costs of manufacturing by 65%, but also the bamboo will also do well as a ventilator.
Proposed to be sold as a stand-alone unit the HP LiM (Less is More) concept is set to feature a 19″ transparent touch OLED screen along with a wireless keyboard. The touch screen slides down to create a more ergonomic touch experience and easy navigation. It also features a virtual trackpad thus cutting down on mouse costs.
Hot in Red
Merely months after Gateway thrilled your soul with the introduction of all sorts of new desktops, the outfit has apparently received the upgrade bug. Starting right now, the 17-inch P-Series, 15.4-inch M-Series and 14.1-inch T-series laptops can be ordered with Intel’s Latest Core 2 Duo Chips, more spacious hard drives and dual-layer DVD Writers. For those eying a tower, the FX Series, DX Series and GT Series now provide (up to) a Core 2 Quad Q9300 CPU, 6GB of RAM, an over clocked NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT and price tags starting as low as $549.99.
Roaming Eyes
Advancing technology has helped create lightweight, thin screens of pliable plastic material that are constructed to blur or black out screen images. A Secure-View® filter allows the user to see the screen clearly when viewed from the front; however images begin blurring when viewed at an angle until screen is completely blacked out. The multi-purpose computer filters also eliminate typical office glare, increases screen image contrast, and helps protect your expensive monitor screen from scratches, fingerprints, and abrasions. Effective, frameless privacy screens have typically been a single-source product. Available for two common sizes of laptops!
delightful
Panasonic has released the all new Panasonic Toughbooks (laptops) that are as tough as Ford’s Trucks. The new models of the Panasonic Toughbooks are CF-W5, CF-T5 and CF-Y5 which names are pretty strange and “tough” to remember. Nevertheless, the most interesting fact about this “Tough” laptops are they actually has passed the Military Specifcations drop-test. However, the features and specifications of the new Panasonic Toughbooks aren’t that cool.

The new custom laptops are from the Acer notebook line-up. These two laptops are very capable PC and have a 14.1-Inch WXGA Widescreen LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) that incorporates Acer’s CrystalBrite technology for a much better picture. It can achieve a picture resolution of 1280 x 800, and can display widescreen materials in original 16:9 formatting. And that’s just the screen! I’ll touch on CrystalBrite a little later.

Dell's hybrid laptops: Intel + ARM, Windows + Linux
Dell is offering Windows-Linux hybrid laptops that use both Intel and ARM processors. Though the user would never know it.
As pointed out in this EE Times report, entitled "Dell has dragged the Linux-ARM Trojan horse inside the Wintel PC," Dell is offering a processor-plus-OS subsystem separate from the main Windows-Intel system.
The goal is to give users instant access to e-mail without booting up the operating system and extend battery life by running Linux on a very low-power ARM processor. Basic ARM processor designs are licensed by U.K.-based ARM Holdings to companies like Samsung and Texas Instruments, which then manufacture the chip.
Warren East, president and CEO of ARM, highlighted this subsystem while discussing the company's 2008 financial results earlier this month. "(There are) interesting hybrid products where PCs are adopting ARM technology alongside Intel technology for functions such as the Internet and e-mail because that gives you much longer battery life as a user," East said during a 2008 earnings conference call.
Here's Dell ad copy for its Latitude ON feature: "Dell Latitude ON, a new technology that will enable near-instant access to e-mail, calendar, attachments, contacts and the Web without booting into the system's main operating system (OS)...on the Latitude E4200 and E4300, Dell Latitude ON uses a dedicated low-voltage sub-processor and OS that can enable multi-day battery life."
Hewlett-Packard offers an application called Quick Look 2 (PDF) but this works differently than Dell's system. HP describes it as giving the user "immediate access to information from your Microsoft Office Outlook program...by proactively capturing information and storing it outside your computer's operating system."
sony new laptops
The next criminally overpriced laptop is the 13-inch Sony Vaio Z Series ultraportable laptop (3.4 pounds). The VGN-Z590UBB model is priced at $3,899.99. Amazingly, this comes with only a one-year warranty.
But first a few positives. One of the most unusual features of the Vaio Z is a discrete Nvidia GeForce 9300M graphics chip. Almost all of the newer ultraportables come with Intel 4500MHD integrated graphics only. So this is certainly a plus and echoes the Nvidia 9400M graphics in the newest MacBook Air. It also packs DDR3 SDRAM memory. This is good too.
But there is little to justify (in my opinion) a price tag approaching $4,000 (unless Sony has doubled up on gold memory connectors and isn't telling us about it). Yes, you get new Intel silicon (a P9500 running at 2.53GHz), hybrid graphics (Nvidia and Intel), a high-resolution LED display (1600 x 900), but nothing that justifies forking over $3,900, even if you're Merrill Lynch flush with stimulus-package cash.
The third up is the 12-inch Fujitsu LifeBook B6230 (3.2 pounds), priced at $1,799. Though it's listed lower than the Voodoo and the Sony, the features are strikingly unimpressive for the $1,800 list price. An archaic Intel ULV U7600 (1.2 GHz) processor (533 MHz front-side bus), 1GB of memory, an 80GB hard disk drive, 802.11a/b/g wireless (no "n" here), and a one-year warranty round out (yawn) the features.
In descending order of extravagance, at No. 4 is the 12-inch Toshiba Portege R600 model S4202. Price aside, a quick glance at the features would impress most prospective buyers: very light at 2.4 pounds, standard 3GB of memory, a 128GB solid-state drive, a integrated optical drive, 802.11a/g/n wireless, and a Webcam.
What's the downside to these decent features? You guessed it, the price: $2,999--and that includes a slow Intel SU9400 (1.4GHz) processor. With full-featured Netbooks costing about one-sixth the price (between $500 and $700) and an HP Pavilion dv3 ultraportable on the way priced at about $900, the Toshiba begins to look, well, overpriced.
Finally, I must mention the Apple MacBook Air (I know I'll get slammed for this). The newest version with the upgraded Intel processor, Nvidia graphics, and a 128GB solid-state drive is certainly a vast improvement over the original. But in the age of the Netbook and seriously budget-constrained buyers $2,500 ($2,499) is just too expensive.
Apple needs to bring the high-end MBA down to about $2,000. Still pricey but probably justifiable (to the lucky few out there who sold their Nantucket vacation home before the crash).
Ludicrously priced laptops: Apple, HP, Sony
Some laptops, especially ultraportables, brazenly push the envelope on pricing। In the age of the ultra-cheap Netbook, are they really worth the $2,000 to $3,000 price tag? I've listed three egregious offenders and two that fall into the less-scandalous-but-still-snooty pricing category.
Let's start with the Hewlett-Packard Voodoo Envy 133, probably the most brazenly overpriced of the batch because it will still set you back as much as $2,700 despite the fact that it hasn't been updated in almost eight months and, accordingly, comes with obsolete hardware.
The 13-inch ultra-slim Voodoo Envy 133 model NV4050NA is priced at $2,699.99 (with "instant rebate"), but the buyer gets nothing extraordinary for this extraordinary price, with the possible exception of an external optical drive and a power adapter with a wireless access point built in.
The stratospheric-price-defying negatives include an old processor, a lagging-edge solid-state drive (64GB instead of the current 128GB standard), and last year's graphics.
Here's a quick rundown:
- An old Intel Core 2 Duo SP7700 Processor (1.8GHz) processor (think: original MacBook Air)
- A pass? 64GB solid-state drive
- An ancient Intel graphics media accelerator X3100 (think: original ThinkPad X300)
- A short-lasting 3-cell battery
- An external optical drive (this is one of the few pluses)
Lenovo 12-inch IdeaPad S20 Notebook
This one's nowhere near official just yet, but DigiTimes is reporting that Lenovo is set to expand its netbook line to include a 12-inch model in the form of the Atom-powered IdeaPad S20 (no doubt not too dissimilar to 10-inch S10 pictured above). While there's expectedly no word on complete details, DigiTimes does say that the netbookwould come equipped an Atom N280 processor and Intel's GN40 chipset, along with Windows XP, and cost about $586. It also says that since the 12-inch screen size falls outside of Intel's definition of a netbook, Lenovo would have to pay the full, non-preferential price for the Atom processor (about ten bucks more), although it's not clear if that's also been the case with something like the Dell Mini 12, which also pairs an Atom processor with a 12-inch screen.
Haier shows off mysterious "NetBooks," Android phones
Haier's offerings are always an adventure, and this year at MWC they didn't disappoint. They were showing off an interesting assortment of MIDs, confusingly dubbed "NetBooks," including a mini-laptop of sorts (left) that falls somewhere in the middle. Unfortunately, we're totally short on specs, release dates or other sorts of relevant informations, so what you see is pretty much what you get. On a similar note, Haier had two Android-based devices at the show, dubbed the G1 and the G2, along with a BlackBerry 8900 look-alike we didn't see, and another phone that even the PR person wasn't sure what it was. These two "Googlephones" (their word) were sadly out of battery when we went for a demo, but one of them bore more than a passing resemblance to the BlackBerry Storm, though it happens to be lighter, smaller and runs a new OS... maybe RIM can call up Haier for some pointers.
Canon's latest cameras
Canon certainly isn't cutting any corners with its pre-PMA batch of digital cameras, and the folks at PhotographyBlog look to be doing their best to keep up with them all, with them now churning out some hands-on looks with just about all of 'em, plus a couple of Canon's new lenses for good measure. Those include the SX200 IS pictured above, which they describe as "bigger and chunkier" than its rival Panasonic DMC-TZ7, as well as the "sleek and sophisticated" A2100 IS, the "toy-camera-like" D10, and a number of other compact shooters that stay a bit closer to their predecessors in terms of appearance. Of particular note to more serious photographers, Canon was also showing off its new TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II lens, which is replacing the 17-year-old original model, and its new TS-E 17mm f/4L lens, which is apparently the world's shortest focal length Tilt-Shift lens with full-frame 35mm coverage. Hit up the link below to check out the whole lot, just be prepared to do a bit of digging.
